Why study in Canada?

Education System

1. In Canada, education is a provincial responsibility under the constitution, resulting in significant differences between the education systems of the various provinces. As a result, the academic programs, requirements, and standards vary widely depending on the province in which a student is studying.

2. The education system in Canada encompasses primary education, secondary education, and post-secondary education, including colleges, universities, and vocational schools. It is well-respected globally for its high academic standards and rigorous curricula.

Publicly-funded universities: In Canada, universities are mostly funded by the government and offer various programs ranging from undergraduate degrees to doctoral degrees, with a focus on research.

Private community colleges/ technical institutes, career college’s universities and university colleges give diplomas which is skill based or Job oriented, that leads to bachelors in Universities with appropriate transfer of credits.

There are 175 post-secondary institutions in Canada that are part of the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC). These institutions have different names, including Community College, College, Technical Institute, University College, and Cégep.

In Canada, there are both public and private postsecondary institutions. The government regulates some of them, but others may not be regulated at all. The regulated institutions have the authority to grant academic credentials like degrees, diplomas, and certificates because they have been authorized or recognized by their provincial or territorial governments through charters or legislation that ensures quality mechanisms.

Requirement for Masters is an average good GPA of 70 % and above in bachelor Degree preferably 4 years degree

Visa Process

The Canadian High Commission accepts visa application through VFS services.

To apply for a Canadian study visa, applicants can submit their applications at a VFS office. The visa application will be assessed by the Canadian High Commission or the Consulate General. To obtain a visa, applicants must show that they will leave Canada after their authorized stay, have sufficient funds to cover their expenses, pass a medical test, have no criminal record, and pose no security risk to Canada.

Accommodation

Each institute has its own policy for housing. Most common types of accommodations are:

School-Provided Homestays : A homestay usually consists of a Canadian family hosting a student in their home while the student attends classes in Canada. This includes meals as well as a private, furnished room. (Cost: CDN $ 400 – $ 800 per month)

School-Provided Residence/Dormitory : Many schools have accommodation conveniently located on or near their campuses. There is usually an option of either shared or private room and dormitories. (Cost: CDN $ 3000 – $ 7500 per year)

Off Campus Housing : Usually many students share or rent apartments to save costs. Listings of available apartments or homes are published weekly in local newspapers. Rents vary greatly according to the location and time of year. (Cost: CDN $ 250 – $ 700 per month)

Part time job and Other details

Part-Time Job

International students in Canada can work on campus or off campus during their studies. The Off-Campus Work Permit Program allows eligible foreign students to work off campus while completing their studies. To be eligible, a student must be enrolled full-time at a participating publicly funded post-secondary educational institution or in an approved program at an eligible privately funded institution.

Stay Back Options

International students who study for at least 8 months in Canada can apply for a work permit after they complete their studies. The length of the work permit depends on the length of the program. If the program was less than 2 years, the work permit will be for the same length as the program. If the program was 2 years or longer, the work permit can be for up to 3 years. This allows students to stay and work in Canada after their studies are complete.
